The main B2 from Windhoek to the coast

The B2 heads north from Windhoek to Okahandja, about 71km, before turning west for the coast. Although the distance to Swakopmund is 358km, the road is flat and the tarred surface means that it is around four hours of very easy driving.

There are a few towns along this stretch of road that make worth while stops if you have the time. These include:

Okahandja

Okahandja is a small town north of Windhoek where there are some useful shops and banks for stocking up. The town also has plenty of history and a number of lovely nearby guest farms to spend the night.

Karibib

This small town, in a small scale mining area, is a pleasant place to stop for a snack, or to overnight at one of the nearby guest farms.

Usakos

This is a handy place to stop for those who need a bank or some fuel; or stay a little longer to explore the local area.
