The Buitepos border opens 07.00–17.00 and is suitable for 2WD vehicles. There's little on the other side apart from a border post until you reach the small Kalahari cattle-farming town of Ghanzi.

Hitching

Gobabis is probably the best place for hitching from Namibia into Botswana, as many trucks pass this way. Don't accept anything that will stop short of the border at Buitepos, and do carry plenty of food and water.
