On the opposite side of town to virtually all the other lodges, Hakusembe is about 14km west of Rundu – off the main road to Nkurenkuru. To reach it, take a turning northwest off the main Rundu–Grootfontein road about 4km southwest of Rundu. Follow this towards Nkurenkuru for about 10km, until the lodge is signposted towards the river.

Hakusembe is managed by Lena and Henry Mudge as a restcamp, which also has activities available. All the chalets have been upgraded with 24-hour electricity, and en-suite shower and toilet. These are set amidst green lawns leading on to the river. There is also a swimming pool, and nearby, under thatch, the bar (popular with residents) and dining area.

Watersports and fishing are available January–October for N$50 per person per hour – options include waterskiing, parasailing, kneeboarding, birdwatching and sightseeing trips by boat. Sunset champagne cruises are also popular.
