Situated on the C15, about 6km north of Gochas, Auob Lodge stands in the Kalahari, close to the dry River Auob, within 80km2 of its own land. It also has its own airstrip, co-ordinates S24.49 E18.46. Despite the name, the place has the atmosphere of a Continental hotel, with heavy furniture, a bar, pool room, lounge and separate restaurant. Rooms, located around a swimming pool, are comfortable, with ceiling fans and en-suite shower and toilet, but don't expect much in the way of frills. The lodge offers horseriding (not suitable for novices), and game drives amongst typical Kalahari game species, including giraffe and wildebeest, plus blesbok, introduced from South Africa.
