Run by Brian and Hermine Black, Airport Lodge is signposted halfway between Windhoek's main international airport and the city, about 600m from the B6 main road, down the MR53 turning. Set well apart in extensive bush, each of the lodge's ethnic-décor thatched bungalows has three single beds (children will love the third, set high up in its own 'loft' area), en-suite toilet/shower, mini-kitchen, satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, mosquito nets and AC/ceiling fan, not to mention a small veranda. There's a large swimming pool with outside and inside bars, a braai, and an open fire for winter evenings. This is a peaceful and convenient stop before and after flights. Airport transfers cost N$40 per person (N$80 minimum).
