About 25km south of the city, to the right of the main road to Rehoboth, Aris was bought at the end of 2001 after standing empty for over two years. Although the place is now open, rooms remain basic and old-fashioned, the pool could do with some serious attention and hunting tropies on the walls may not appeal to many readers. On the positive side, weaver birds have colonised trees in the large, rather neglected grounds, and kudu can be seen in the hills to the front. The bar and restaurant are open all day till late, serving meals and snacks, with a Sunday buffet at N$55.
