Marianne and Ralph Eder and their three children came to Namibia from Germany with the intention of opening their new home to disadvantaged children, but things didn't go according to plan. Instead, they are now welcoming tourists to this attractive thatched lodge, approached down the same drive as Sundown Lodge (above), and set in 10 hectares of land. Goats, dogs and horses are part of the homestead, and horseriding is a possibility. There's also a pool to cool off.

Double and twin rooms are in three separate thatched bungalows, with simple rustic furniture – some of it homemade – and en-suite showers. Each has a ceiling fan and, outside, a small patio with chairs. Lunch and dinner are available on request at N$35 and N$53 respectively, and teenage daughter Julia's cakes are excellent! Don't come here expecting luxury, but for genuine hospitality and warmth, it would be hard to beat.
